Eat ONLY Organic Strawberries

After my breakfast recipe using organic strawberries was sent out yesterday, I felt the need to confirm that eating only certified organic strawberries is essential.

Strawberries have been shown to have 20 different pesticides sprayed and used on them.

CHOICE did test and this is part of their findings:

The test method was able to detect any of 150 different pesticides. They found the following in one or more samples:

  • Boscalid
  • Captan
  • Carbaryl
  • Chlorpyrifos
  • Dimethoate
  • Endosulfan-beta
  • Iprodione
  • Pirimicarb
  • Pyrimethanil

In my book From Cancer to Wellness: the forgotten secrets 1st edition2009, I did a dirty dozen list. In 2018, my second edition I created a more up to date list that I refer to as the dirty dozen plus list on page 53.

The Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) annual “Dirty Dozen” list 2022 Strawberries once again topped the Dirty Dozen List of foods to avoid unless certified organic.

This is their dirty dozen – I have 17 worst offenders on my list. The EWG stick with the first dirty dozen.

EWG Dirty Dozen List For 2022

  1. Strawberries
  2. Spinach
  3. Kale, collard, and mustard greens
  4. Nectarines
  5. Apples
  6. Grapes
  7. Bell and hot peppers
  8. Cherries
  9. Peaches
  10. Pears
  11. Celery
  12. Tomatoes

‘About 70 per cent of Australian strawberries are being grown on runners that have been fumigated with an environmentally damaging pesticide that has been banned around the world’.
